Today wasn’t as bad, I think it was because I was excited about today’s workout for the minute I saw it. I couldn’t tell you why, I’ve heard horror stories about the “rowing machine” but for some reason, I was all about it. After a quick warm-up, it was on to the rowing machine. The workout had a total rowing distance of 4000 meters, I’ll admit it, I wasn’t really sure just how far that was and had to enlist the assistance of Google. Turns out 4000 meters equals 2.48 miles, so we’ll say 2.5 to make it easy. This was a pyramid workout, start at 250 meters, and work up to 1000 meters and work back down to 250 meters. MK decided to raise the bar a little bit, track my times going up to 1000 meters and then beat those times coming back down. There is something about a “challenge”; I just can’t seem to say no to one.
I won’t bore you with the specific times, but let’s just say I met MK’s challenge, I crushed my times on the way down. When I was done I was slightly concerned that I was going to require some kind of assistance to stand up, this situation was made worse by the fact I had to do 100 squats for time. I have no idea if my time on these was good or not, but it just over 3 minutes. The cool down was a few minutes on the bike, thank God there was no set pace for this, I think I crushing the bike at somewhere around 2mph!
As I was crawling out of the gym I ran into the president of my company, this was only slightly humiliating. I was barely able to walk and the only part he saw was my stellar performance on the bike. During our chat I dropped my ear buds which he was nice enough to pick up for me. I think he was concerned if I tried to pick them up I’d fall over. Picking up my ear buds was much easier that trying to pick me up!
My next major issue came when I reached my Jeep. I should explain something for those that do not know me or my Jeep. I own a Jeep Wrangler, with a ridiculous lift kit on it. I have family and friends that joke about needing a step ladder to get in and out of her. Generally this is no issue for me, but today I seriously thought I may need to rent a crane to get my fat ass in the Jeep! I was physically unable to get my foot up to the running board and even once I did I could not get myself up and in.
I feel the need to tell you all that I was having the time of my life, I loved the workout and found my predicament with the Jeep to be absolutely hysterical! As one point I had my head resting on my driver’s side seat laughing to the point of tears.
In the end I was able to get in the Jeep. Now one might think I would be thankful for this small miracle and just head home. Oh no, I was having too much fun. I headed to the karate school to take a three hour advanced class. On my laundry list of things to do this year is test for my 6th degree black belt. This would require a great deal of work for an active Black Belt, but I have been relatively inactive for about a year (more on this later) let’s just say I looked more like a white belt today!
