Perhaps it was the anticipation of these workouts, or the fact that I slept for 13 hours on Saturday night or just my general insomnia, but I could not fall asleep Sunday night to save my life. So when my alarm went off at 4:30am I did not have the regular argument with myself about getting up, it was a very definitive “NOT HAPPENING” 3 hours of sleep is simply not enough, especially with these workouts. So I went back to sleep for three more hours.
The extra sleep of course meant that I did not get to the gym before I went to work, but I have nothing after work today so I can hit the gym on the way home. This was a mistake! I got to the gym at 5:00pm and while my workout was a long one, it was made so much longer because I had to wait for just about everything! The place was packed, and not with my normal “morning workout guys”, who are always nice and polite and encouraging. No, this place was packed with dozens of self-righteous, a-holes!
The 65 minutes on the bike did nothing positive for my back side, but is nothing compared to the nightmare that made up the “Death By Bike Seat” blog. I didn’t go nearly as far as I would have liked, but some of the intervals were killers. I hit one especially brutal one; I was cruising along on a nice easy setting when it switched to a “hill”…yea…EVEREST! I came to almost a complete stop!
Today was day one of what should prove to be an epic week and I’m looking forward to it. Having said that, note to self: Get up! Being tired is better than being annoyed!
