If you are more into a small fuzzy animal with big ears running around with eggs, Happy Easter!!! But to quote Robin Williams “Rabbits don't lay eggs. What is this?”
Easter is a great time for my family and friends. Most of us are church going folks or at least have a firm belief in the Christian faith and celebrate the crucifixion and resurrection of the Son of God. So for us, Easter is a pretty big deal.
Because I actively participate in two different churches, Easter is a bit hectic for me. On one hand I go to an Orthodox church with my friends, for us we have church service in the evenings throughout Holy Week and our Easter Service is on Saturday night, I think we rolled out about 2am. I also usually go to Easter service with my Mom at her church on Sunday morning; sometimes we even do Sunrise Service. This year it was just too much, I was too tired to attend church with my mom.
After church (or in my case, after I got up) my family gathers at my mom’s house. This is usually a smaller group, my mom, my sister, her boyfriend and me. My dogs go out and run around and play with mom’s dogs and overall it’s pretty relaxing. Mom still
makes Easter baskets for us and my sister and I actively try to steal things from the other’s basket. We eat way too much great food and laugh and generally have a great time. Mom sends home leftovers with me in the hopes I won’t starve, my puppies go to my aunt’s to spend the afternoon outside with her and her 4-legged kids while I head to CK’s place.
While my mom’s is a small relatively quiet gathering, CK’s is the polar opposite, between the large family and the numerous friends that come and go throughout the day, the house is constantly buzzing with activity. There were trips to the pond to fish, taking my 3 year old nieces for a ride in my Jeep with the top off, more fantastic food, good humored harassment from my brothers, the holding of babies, hunting for Easter baskets and an overall good time.
In the end, the day is what it should be, good family, good friends, good food and lots of laughs! So while there was no physical training of any kind today there was a great deal of mental and spiritual exercise!
