There were a few highlights today; first off I crushed the workout. I’m a little tired, but that’s to be expected. I had a pretty good deadlift max. I was only able to lift 185lbs two weeks ago, but today I lifted 230lbs. While it’s still less
than I’d like, its improvement and I’ll take it!
Last but not least, let’s talk about compression shorts. Under Armour made these pretty popular (there are a variety of manufacturers), the thin, skin tight shorts and tops that most, main stream athletes, wear under their uniforms or workout clothes. They have become quite popular with most wanna-be athletes as well, personally I have several pairs. The reason I bring this up is because there is at least one person at my local gym that does not wear them, or at least he didn’t today.
This ridiculously good looking young man (a “Beasty Boy” as MK refers to them) was working out on a bench in front of me while I was rowing. Said Beasty Boy is not hard to look at all by himself, but that fact that he was laying down on a bench, wearing really baggy shorts and not much else made my day great! I want to clarify that he was not “going commando”, he did have on undies, they just weren’t hiding anything! For the record I wasn’t the only one who noticed, the lady next to me nearly fell off her treadmill when she looked up.
Moving on. I happened to look a back at the workouts I had on week one of this little adventure and I almost laughed, they seemed so hard almost two months ago. While I have had some rough days at the gym and in the pool, it’s nice to be able to look back and see the progress that’s happening without me noticing. I still have a long way to go, but I think we’re on the right path.
