From my standpoint it is one of the most ingenious torture devices ever created. If you have read my previous posts then you know that sit-up and I are not friends. And I don’t personally know anyone who is on good terms with burpees (if you sat you are…you lie!) So in a training session with KB she introduced me to bosu-sit-ups and bosu-burpees.
I feel that the sit-ups are the more devious of the two exercises. They’re just so easy to do and almost fun! You sit on one side of the ball, lay back, arching your back over the ball and sit up. Just don’t go too crazy or you’ll bash your dome on the ground. You have back support and what feels like assistance throughout the movement. Yea, about that!
I have often seen the super fit women walking around with the six pack abs and through to myself, yea so what, I have a keg! Do to my inability to do sit-up worth a damn I have secretly wondered if I even have abs! Obviously I do and bosu sit-ups have proven that. I have never had so much pain in my abs in my life! There are tears involved if a sneeze, cough and even try to stand up straight.
The burpees are just as bad as you might think, if you’re wondering how you do a bosu burpee, you roll the thing over so the bubble in on the bottom. (See YouTube if you’re confused) These aren’t as easy as the sit-ups because there are some balance issues in play, but they are sorta fun.
I have no doubt there will be more bosu type insanity in my future and that’s both cool and terrifying! More to follow…
