Well, it’s been a year since I started this crazy ride. It was March 17th when I had my initial assessment with KBW. And this is week 52 on my programming sheet. I’ve looked back at my previous posts and my previous workouts and I can’t help but smile.
The year was full of great things!
Getting back in the gym
Learning how to swim
Starting this blog
Pulling every muscle in my body more times than
I can count
Man makers (look up on YouTube)
Lack of sleep
A stolen phone
A century ride
Learning to fly fish
The ABC ride
Being sick though the holidays
My first triathlon, sorta
IMAZ (as a spectator)
The walking boot
More dietary indiscretions
94 Blog Posts
Roughly 300 workouts
Two pairs of running shoes
Almost 40 pounds down
A new bike (that still hasn't arrived!)
Pains, strains and misc set backs
More fun than I could ever imagine!
Yup, it’s been a wild ride. There have been ups and downs, but that’s just added to the fun and the stories. I’ve learned a great deal in the past year. Learning how to swim was a big one. My first day in the pool was a struggle to get from one end to the other, now my struggles are at the two mile range.
Going into this I couldn’t run a lap around the track, I have a 7 mile run on my program this week! I’m still slow by most standards, but I no longer care. Yes, I’ve become one of those people who posts daily on social media about my workouts and accomplishments and I’m blessed enough to have extremely supportive family and friends.
I still occasionally look in the mirror and ask myself why in the hell I’m doing this, but generally I smile and think, why the hell not?! It’s fun to take a day and look back, see the progress, smile and laugh at all the crazy things that happen, but the real fun and excitement is in what’s to come!
