By this point I should know better, really, I should. There is no such thing as “easy” in KB’s world. In fact I have to laugh, I have friends who work out on a regular basis and they talk about leg day and arm day and back day etc. In KB’s world there seems to be only one kind of day, destroy the entire body day! In fact I’d love to put some of my fitness freak friends in some kind of workout class with her and just sit back and take bets on who she can make cry first! Welcome to my world!
While I joke about my workouts a lot (and periodically complain), but the reality is I love it! I’m not one of those self-motivating people at the gym, so having KB to constantly challenge me and push my limits is just fantastic! For instance, I would never ever attempt to do 150 dumbbell chest presses with 30 pound dumbbells, but it’s what the woman had on my schedule, so it’s what I did. And I have my inability to use my shoulders today as proof! I also did more lunges (which I hate) yesterday than I have in my entire life combined. Ok, that’s a lie, but it felt that way!
To top off my little gym related welcome home party, KB was actually at my gym for a marathon training event. Getting to see her was a great and slightly terrifying. While I don’t think my workout habits are overly disappointing to her, my dietary habits are.
For example, while on a camping trip over the weekend I had a cup of coffee with about 16 cubes of sugar, a pop tart and a few doughnut holes for breakfast at about 7am. I spent the next 11 hours helping one of my best friends build the interior of his cabin. My next meal was BBQ ribs, chips, beans and a couple of adult beverages around 8pm. Not exactly the 5 well balanced meals and snacks she’s shooting for with me.
I half expected her to walk up, say “hi” and then give some kind of extra credit torture for my various dietary indiscretions! Lucky for me, that did not happen! But it was great to see her and chat for a few minutes. Yup, it’s good to be home!
