I met up with KB in the parking lot and during the walk in we had a brief discussion about just how much we both love Ohio weather (insert sarcasm here!). After a quick stop in the locker room to drop off my coat we got started.
My good friend MK was already hard at work! It was nice to see her here and there, walking past, giving me a hard time…so what if I can’t do a push-up…LMAO!!!
I was a little nervous about today. I know I’m out of shape, but putting that fact on display to the rest of the world (or at least the other insane people who are at the gym at the ass-crack of dawn) is a little nerve racking! There is just something about being extremely overweight, out of shape and being in a gym. However KB is amazing, she has this way of making things so relaxed and comfortable. I got a couple looks from a few people, but in the end, I really didn’t care!
We did a variety of different things so that KB can see where I’m at and while I wasn’t overly happy with the amount of weight I was using (115# bench press...seriously!?) I was extremely pleased with my shoulder. Prior to surgery I couldn’t even do 95#.
We discussed the program she wants to put me on, how it will work, what she needs and expects from me, what I need and can expect from her. We discussed the goals, 6th degree Black Belt, Sprint Tri, ½ Marathon. And unofficially I may do the MS150; we’ll see how things go. We also discussed cleaning up my day to day diet. I feel really good about the dietary program she’s putting me on. Yes, it will be a pretty big change for me, but it’s not super crazy. If I want ice cream, I can have it! I can’t have a ½ gallon of it, but I can still have it!
I’m really excited to get started, the road will be a long one, and at times painful, but I’ll never get there if I don’t start moving!! I believe the plan is to formally start on Wednesday!
