Over the weekend we baptized both my niece and my nephew…way cool! This was followed by a nice big dinner afterwards for family and friends. We’re not going to discuss the types or amounts of food or drinks I consumed on Saturday! (I’m in enough trouble these days…LOL)
Sunday entailed a lot more work and a lot less food! Last fall a lady forgot not only how to steer, but also how to apply the brakes on her car. So when she drove off the road for no apparent reason, she managed to cross through three yards, mine being one of them, and shear off four fence posts and 55 feet of fencing! Because she broke the poles off at ground level (or below) I was unable to fix the fence last fall/winter because the ground was too dry/hard/frozen.
Because we have finally managed to get above the freezing mark for more than five minutes and because we are now in the middle of monsoon season the ground was soft and wet enough to get what was left of the old posts out! This was still no small job; there was a lot of digging, a lot of pulling and a lot of profanity! In the end I managed to get all four posts pulled out and replaced, however my back will never be the same. My ability to stand up straight and or function like a normal human being has been severely diminished! It was a ridiculously productive day and thinks to AJ, I have new fencing up front. I still have to re-stretch about 250’ of fencing along the side yard, but that’s for another day.
After the fence adventure it was time for more food that we will not discuss! There was a Mother-Daughter banquet at Mom’s church. This is always a good time with good food, good fellowship and great people. I feel the need to mention that I was the only one at our table not to win a prize =(
One of the best parts about Sunday was the fact that I managed to get to bed at an appropriate time which meant that Monday morning was not as painful as it has been in the past. While my back was a little less than thrilled, I managed to have a good workout. Monday night was more of the same spinal abuse as I finished my fence with more help for AJ.
Tuesday’s workout was also pretty good. I was unable to finish my deadlifts because of the pain in both my hands and my back (I am unable to work with gloves on and working with fencing destroys your hands!) The only other bummer on Tuesday’s workout was my attempt to knock myself unconscious while getting in my Jeep! I’ve said before that I am an overachiever when it comes to getting hurt!
Wednesday was supposed to be a pool day. I got up and got out the door on time, only to be greeted by a fantastic heavenly light show! The lightning was beautiful and breathtaking! So was the rainbow that lit up a still nearly black sky! Shortly into my drive I received a text from MK that her Y had closed the pool due to the storms, a quick call to my Y revealed the same situation. So I headed back home which turned out to be a good thing. My fuzzy four-legged children get pretty worked up for the first storm of the season and this was a winner. So I spent the morning with two pacing, panting, whining babies and the third one trying to hide behind me on my couch!
While the morning was not what I was expecting it was pretty good! The only bummer is that while my knee has been feeling much better, today it’s pretty angry, I’m hoping it’s just because of the weather.
